Personal:

Born in 1973 in Southern California.

Ran in high school for Arcadia. They have a famous cross-country team now. In my day, we were famous for dodging our coach during runs.

Over the next 15 years I ran very little, but life was awesome. I lived mostly in Northern California, where I met my wife. We moved back to her native state of Florida in 2005, where I gradually started running more seriously.

Last half-marathon in a series today. I had no motivation to race, but I did want to get out and run. I made a plan with a friend who was hoping to run a PR, 1:25-1:26.

Having me as a pacer is apparently is the best way to come up short. Around the 6 mile mark he threw in the towel, and we eased off. A couple miles later I remarked the race became a lot more fun after we relaxed and stopped worrying about a goal. "No - it still sucks" he said.

I got home and ran another mile with Anna on her bike. I was fairly sore, which given the pace is a little sad.

Drew,

Your pacing game needs work. :P

Sincerely,

Mike.
